Find, Fix and Strike

ADD TO WISHLIST >

A fast playing set of naval rules designed for use with models from 1/2400 to 1/6000, but adaptable to larger scales such as 1/1200. Book keeping is minimal, with damage recorded through a series of Levels rather than keeping track of damage points. Also included is a set of  operational level campaign rules that provide a framework for linked battles, club campaigns etc.

Data for over 200 classes and individual ships and over 60 aircraft types covering the navies of Great Britain, Germany, the United States, Japan, France, Italy, the Soviet Union, the Netherlands and Sweden are included.

"Find, Fix and Strike" was the motto of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm

Hello I'm new in naval combat wargames so when somebody explain me my doubts please speak to me like a to labrador:))
.1. "Light Gun AF may only be used against DD, DE, MTB, MGB, CVE or AA." So why light guns have penetration value for what? Or this means that I can attack with light guns only one D6 BBs and other big ships.
.2.Main Battery AF may not be used against MTB or MGB. So why some cruisers have note that their light guns also a main gun battery? It seams they can't attack MTBs only by ram? For example Swdish Fylgia.
.3. What is a different between Sunderland Rad/Rng 6 End 3 and PBY5 Catalina Rad/Rng 6/turn End 3? This means that PBY have overall range 18? And how PBY backs to base. in 3 turns or 1 if he can fly 6 hexes by turn? If PBY will fly this 18 hexes and back this will be in all 36.
Somebody could explain this? maybe some samples how planes search and DD's use artillery?

The light gun PF is there to cater for situations where players introduce lightly armored ships that might be a valid target for (example) destroyers, such as monitors and armoured gunboats (which I’m likely to be adding in the next update).
All cruiser light gun factors may be used without the “main AF” limitation. I don’t think there are any notes against cruisers limiting their Light gun AFs
The entry in the PBY line is incorrect, it should read the same as the Sunderland. Delete “/turn”

Thank you, Mr. David for all clarifications. Now all is clear for me. This rules are great. Not to complex but very accurate and elegant.
If we can expecct maybe more scenarios, especially from Guadacanal or Narwik?
And one last question. Torpedos can make flood effect for BB or BC?
How looks damage order for using torpedos? As welll as with guns? I'm new in WW2 naval wargaming so I have to figure out this on playing surface.
Greetings
Darek

If you do an update you might want to add stats for G/H class DD as used at Narvik and Matapan etc

Have just purchased this set of rules after checking out the very impressive, (and free!), accompanying scenario campaign books.
Are there any plans to add to these? - I'm hoping for Guadalcanal, Sunda Strait, Malaya, Norway, the Channel Dash, Cape Matapan ...
the potential list is endless really!

Looks promising. Clean, brief and elegant set of rules for small and bigger battles , even some campaigns.
Mechanically - ship have general firepower value + modificators + D6 vs Defense mods+D6.
Damage done only in four states: "Stunned", Light Dmg, Heavy Dmg, Sink. + some "special hits"
I think - I may like it..

But.. (IMHO!)
- No examples.. no examples of details and no example battle to tie things together...
- No even basic, training scenario .. "go find yourself" "users for sure have some scenarios around" attitiude
- No marketing, no site, no forum, no filled up BGG profile, no FB group
- No tokens, individual ship profiles, templates - no help

Getting first game running - takes time and effort on buyer side.

I'm quite happy, even if just a reading material, food for thought ... bought on sale.

But this is general moaning about small games and (not so) small developers......See more

For David Manley or anyone familiar with his new WWII Naval rules "Fix, Find, and Strike:" Do the Gunnery Attack Factor modifiers associated with damage levels (listed in the table on p. 17 of the rules) also pertain to a ship's Anti-Aircraft Factor? It makes sense to me that it would, but I cannot find it stated specifically in the rules. Thanks!

Yes, that was one of my questions too. Also, the rules say that Light Gunnery Attack Factors can fire at one target "on each side" of the ship. Does that mean Light AF can only be used in the Port and Starboard arcs? Or any two arcs (with a -1 modifier if Fwd or Aft)?

What is the range of AA fire? I can't seem to find it in the rule-book (but that doesn't mean I am not overlooking something)

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
