Evil Spears. Generic numidian warriors 3BC-1BC

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The nomadic tribes of Numidia were loyal allies of the Carthaginian state. After the fall of Carthage, Numidia experienced its "golden age". Cities grew and developed, agriculture progressed - an economic base arose for a modern army. Unfortunately, dynastic disputes led to a civil war between the claimants. Rome and Mauritania entered the war as allies. In the end, the price of such "assistance" turned out to be too high - by the beginning of the new era, Numidia had turned into a Roman province.

Imagine yourself as one of the tribal leaders of Numidia: form a small army of different troops and fight back the Roman invaders.

I would buy all of these sets if the image backs were properly done, and not merely a mirror of the front. The art is a '10', but the way the sets are presented is only a '5' (at most.)

Edit: I have since thought up a use for these "flats" which has restored my interest and admiration of them: Whilst, if I was using them on a tabletop, I would prefer proper front and back images, it has occurred to me that these could be used to make really cool storyboards in the manner of the Bayeux Tapestry. The mirrored images would allow the opposing forces to face each other. A pretty cool way to document your campaign battles in manner that looks like it was made by monks some years after the battle.

I unfortunately have no opponent with which I could play using these figures but I wanted to say that they are both interesting and beautifully done. Very good job on these! I'm going to add them to me wishlist in case I ever get into a situation where I can make use of them.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
